 Our Mission 

The mission of Robertson Charter School is to provide a world-class education to youth, with special concern for at-risk students, in Decatur, IL, through a rigorous curriculum and character development, and to focus on each student’s uniqueness, interests, and potential to help them succeed in life.

Robertson Charter School began as a vision—a commitment to providing an alternative educational opportunity for families in Decatur, Illinois. After nearly eighteen months of dedicated preparation, we proudly opened our doors in July 2001 with 67 eager students, initially offering Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. Despite a challenging start, our school quickly became a premier educational choice in the community. Our goal was to expand by one grade each year until we reached 8th Grade, which we achieved by the 2006-2007 school year.

Robertson Charter School offers a unique educational environment as a “public school of choice” affiliated with Decatur Public School District 61. Our state-of-the-art technology enhances our curriculum, enabling students to master essential skills in reading and math. Today, we proudly serve approximately 300 students with a dedicated team of 46 staff members.

Our commitment to our students extends beyond the classroom. We operate our own fleet of school buses, staffed exclusively by drivers employed by Robertson Charter School, ensuring reliable, safe transportation for our students.
